The Metropolitan University Research Society (MURS) successfully hosted an inspiring live session titled “Can Undergraduate Students Publish Research Papers?” on 13 February 2026 at 3:15 PM through Facebook Live. The session aimed to encourage undergraduate students to explore the world of academic research and understand the possibilities of publishing scholarly work from the early stages of their academic journey.
The event featured the distinguished speaker Saidur Rahman, Distinguished Research Professor and Head of the Centre for Nano-Materials and Energy Technology at Sunway University, Malaysia, as well as Professor at Lancaster University, United Kingdom. Internationally recognized for his outstanding contributions to research and innovation, he has been ranked 7th in the world in Mechanical Engineering and honored as a Top 1% Highly Cited Researcher from 2014 to 2016.
During the session, he shared valuable insights into the importance of research culture among undergraduate students and discussed practical strategies for initiating research projects, selecting meaningful topics, collaborating with mentors, and preparing publishable academic papers. He also highlighted the significance of consistency, curiosity, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration in becoming a successful researcher in today’s competitive academic landscape.
The interactive session created an engaging platform for students to ask questions, gain motivation, and learn from real-world research experiences shared by the speaker. Participants left the session with a clearer understanding of the research publication process and renewed inspiration to actively engage in academic research and innovation.
This impactful initiative reflects the commitment of the Metropolitan University Research Society (MURS) to fostering a strong research-oriented community by connecting students with globally recognized scholars and promoting academic excellence, innovation, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
